Drawing from European and design traditions, manufactured with precision in our Serbian atelier. GARASTOR is dedicated to the art of high-end custom wood flooring.
The Origin — 1996
In 1996, GARASTOR was founded with a singular belief: that a floor is not merely a surface, but the foundation upon which all of human life unfolds. Drawing from the deep well of Italian culture — where philosophy, art, and craft have been intertwined for millennia — our founders set out to create flooring that carries the weight of tradition and the clarity of modern engineering.
The early years were spent not chasing orders, but perfecting the craft: experimenting with oak from European forests, teak from Myanmar, and walnut from North America. Every plank was a question, and the answer was always the same: it must be worthy of the name.
By 2008, the company had grown to 50 craftsmen and established its reputation across the continent. The culture of Italian design thinking — the belief that beauty and utility are not opposites but companions — had become the brand's invisible signature.
Our Journey
GARASTOR founded. A small factory with a singular focus: high-end custom wood flooring of uncompromising quality. The foundation of three decades of craftsmanship.
Expanded with advanced kilns and precision milling lines. Launched the first herringbone and chevron collections, establishing GARASTOR as a serious manufacturer in the European flooring landscape.
First export contracts signed. GARASTOR floors began appearing in residential and commercial projects across Europe and beyond. A reputation for precision and reliability took root.
Achieved ISO 9001 quality management certification, CE marking compliance, and FSC chain-of-custody certification — formal recognition of the standards that had always defined GARASTOR craftsmanship.
Major production facility established in Serbia — a strategic European manufacturing base providing direct access to premium Balkan oak, advanced production capabilities, and efficient EU market distribution.
FSC Certified. ISO 9001. CE Certified. A European brand shaped by Italian design tradition, manufactured with Serbian precision. Still obsessed with the perfect plank.
The House Behind the Name
GARASTOR was founded in 1996 as a European quality flooring brand — born in the tradition of Italian design tradition, manufactured with precision in Serbia. For nearly three decades, GARASTOR has served discerning clients across the continent and beyond, earning its place among Europe's respected high-end custom wood flooring ateliers.
In September 2024, GARASTOR entered a new chapter: a Chinese enterprise acquired the brand and its Serbian factory. The acquisition brings new resources and market access while fully respecting and preserving GARASTOR's original European design philosophy, creative team, and handcrafted traditions.

Design Heritage
From its founding moment, GARASTOR has drawn from the deep well of Italian design culture — a tradition where beauty and utility are not opposites but inseparable companions. We honour and extend this heritage with unwavering conviction.
European Design
01
Italian design is not a style — it is a philosophy. From traditional workshops to modern ateliers, Italy has taught the world that objects of daily life deserve artistic devotion. GARASTOR carries this conviction into every plank: a floor should be as considered as a sculpture, as refined as a garment, as classic as architecture itself.
02
beauty and function. This is the Italian principle that guides every GARASTOR design decision. Our floors are engineered for decades of wear, compatible with radiant heating, dimensionally stable across climates — yet their surfaces are compositions of grain, light, and silence that elevate a room into a space.
03
The Italian design tradition at the heart of GARASTOR remains the brand's guiding light. The original European design DNA, creative direction, and handcrafted team are preserved intact — while fresh resources enable this philosophy to reach more homes, more projects, and more countries than ever before.
Inspired by Italy — Made in Europe
Every GARASTOR collection draws its name and spirit from the Italian landscape: Sicily, Burano, Ischia, Levanzo, Palmarola, Murano, Capri, Stromboli, Elba, Budelli. These are not marketing labels — they are commitments. Each floor is designed to capture the light, texture, and emotional resonance of its namesake. The golden warmth of Sicilian summer. The chromatic vibrancy of Burano's fishermen's houses. The volcanic energy of Stromboli. The meditative stillness of Budelli's pink beach. This is Italian design thinking made tangible — not decoration, but storytelling through material.
Our Philosophy
We reject 40% of the timber we source. Only wood with the right grain density, moisture content, and natural character passes our inspection. Each plank is hand-graded by craftsmen with decades of experience. Every tree we harvest is FSC-certified — grown in managed European forests where every felled trunk is replanted. Like the Italian philosophers who saw matter as a vessel for form, we see every plank as waiting to receive its destiny. A GARASTOR floor is not assembled — it is composed. Every floor tells a story that unfolds over decades, and when its time is done, it returns to the earth without a trace.
Material Excellence
Seven layers. European hardwoods. Decades of engineering refinement. Every GARASTOR plank is a precision instrument — designed not merely to cover a floor, but to define a space.
7-LAYER ENGINEERED CONSTRUCTION · 18 MM · UP TO 2200 × 245 MM
01
Slow-grown Finnish spruce forms the heart of every GARASTOR plank. Its exceptionally tight grain and low moisture absorption deliver unmatched dimensional stability — resisting warping, cracking, and swelling across seasons and climates.
02
Alternating grain direction across seven layers creates a self-balancing structure. Each layer counteracts the movement of its neighbours — the same principle used in aerospace composites, applied to your floor.
03
Danish WOCA oil finishes penetrate deep into the oak grain, hardening from within. Zero VOCs. 100% natural. The wood breathes, ages gracefully, and can be spot-repaired — unlike lacquered surfaces that require full resanding.
04
4 mm of solid European oak — thick enough to be professionally resanded multiple times over decades. The visible grain tells the story of a tree that grew slowly under northern light, developing the density and character that mass-produced timber cannot replicate.
05
Engineered for underfloor heating systems. The multi-layer construction transfers heat efficiently while maintaining absolute flatness. No gaps. No cupping. No compromise between warmth and beauty.
06
Every GARASTOR floor carries FSC chain-of-custody certification and CE compliance. From forest to factory to your home — traceable, responsible, and built to European standards that exceed global norms.
Environmental Commitment
Luxury and responsibility are not opposites — they are inseparable. From sustainably managed forests to zero-VOC finishes, every GARASTOR floor is designed to be as gentle on the planet as it is enduring underfoot.
01
Every piece of wood we use carries FSC chain-of-custody certification. This means traceability from forest to floor — guaranteeing that our timber comes from responsibly managed forests where biodiversity, water quality, and local community rights are protected. We refuse to source from illegal logging, clear-cutting, or conflict timber zones.
02
Our Danish WOCA oil finishes contain zero volatile organic compounds. No formaldehyde. No isocyanates. No solvents. The oil penetrates deep into the wood grain and hardens naturally from within — your floor breathes, your indoor air stays pure, and your family lives on a surface free of industrial toxins.
03
Unlike laminate or vinyl flooring that ends up in landfill, an engineered wood floor is fully recyclable. At the end of its multi-decade life, a GARASTOR floor is 100% biodegradable — returning to the earth from which it came. We design for disassembly, not disposal.
04
CE marking is not just a legal requirement — it is a declaration of conformity to the most rigorous European health, safety, and environmental protection standards. Every GARASTOR floor meets or exceeds EU Regulation 305/2011 for construction products.
05
Our Serbian factory runs on energy-efficient production lines with minimal waste. Wood off-cuts are repurposed for heating and smaller products. Raw materials are sourced within Europe — reducing transport emissions compared to overseas supply chains. The average GARASTOR floor travels fewer kilometres from forest to your home than any imported alternative.
06
A floor that lasts 50 years is infinitely more sustainable than one replaced every 10. Our 4 mm oak wear layer can be professionally resanded and refinished multiple times — extending the floor's life across generations. The most eco-friendly floor is the one you never have to replace.
